More Than a Workshop.A Better Way to Photograph the Wild.

Capture Osa was built for photographers who want more than rushed sightings and crowded itineraries. Our small-group wildlife photography workshops in Costa Rica are designed around patience, field conditions, local knowledge, and the kind of time in the field that leads to stronger images.

Our Story

Built for photographers
who want to work differently.

Capture Osa was built around a simple idea: the best wildlife photography rarely comes from moving faster. It comes from paying closer attention.

Our workshops are designed for photographers who want to work with light, weather, habitat, and animal behavior instead of rushing past them. We keep groups small, stay flexible, and make room for the things that matter in the field: patience, timing, observation, and the ability to adapt.

This is not a general wildlife tour with cameras added in. It is a small-group wildlife photography experience in Costa Rica's Osa Peninsula, built to help photographers slow down, work with more intention, and leave with images that feel connected to place.

The goal is not just to see more. It is to see better.

Our Philosophy

We Follow the Conditions

Wildlife photography rarely happens on command. We build each day around what is actually happening in the field — light, weather, habitat, movement, and behavior — because the strongest images usually come from reading the moment well.

Small Groups Matter

With a maximum of eight guests, the experience stays focused, flexible, and personal. There is more room to adjust, more time for guidance, and a much better working environment for serious photographers.

Built for Photographers

These are not generic Costa Rica tours. They are small-group wildlife photography workshops built for people who care about composition, behavior, light, and the difference between simply spotting wildlife and truly working a scene.

How the Experience Works

Where you stay.
How you move through the Osa.
Why it works.

A big part of what makes Capture Osa different is how the experience is structured on the ground.

Together, Botanika and Crocodile Bay create the balance that defines Capture Osa: a luxury rainforest stay, and a deeply capable field operation that supports serious wildlife photography in Costa Rica.

Where You Stay

Botanika Osa Peninsula

A Curio Collection by Hilton

Botanika is where guests stay throughout the workshop experience. Surrounded by rainforest and shaped by a high level of comfort and service, it gives the trip a quieter center — a place to begin early, return well, and settle into the rhythm of the Osa.

As a Connie Award-recognized property, it brings an award-winning rainforest experience to Capture Osa while still feeling grounded in the landscape — not separate from it.

Field Operations

Crocodile Bay

Crocodile Bay is where the workshops operate from. With guides, boats, vehicles, logistics, and deep local expertise, it provides the access and field support that make this kind of wildlife photography workshop possible.

Crocodile Bay is not just part of the setting. It is a key part of how we access the landscape well and stay flexible when conditions change — years of regional knowledge that shapes how each day in the field unfolds.

Why the Osa

There are wild places that feel scenic, and there are wild places that feel alive. The Osa Peninsula is the second kind. Macaws move over the canopy at first light. Monkeys travel the forest edge. Humpbacks surface offshore. Rain, mist, heat, shadow, and sudden movement can change the frame in an instant.

For photographers, that is what makes this place so compelling. The Osa does not hand you the image. It asks more of you — patience, awareness, timing, restraint — and gives something deeper in return.

Why It Feels Different

Capture Osa is not built around volume, speed, or spectacle for its own sake. It is built around working well in a truly wild place — with the right pace, the right structure, and the right support.

That is what makes the experience feel different. Not just more polished, but more thoughtful. Not just more comfortable, but more capable.
